AMERICAN AQUATICS

The USEPA has recently finalized the CWA 316b permitting requirements. This will require that power plants that use water from lakes and rivers to assess the impact of their operations on the larval fish populations. We can help you with your CWA 316b sampling requirements.

AMERICAN AQUATICS has expanded our capabilities to include larval fish identification. Our larval fish lab can process and identify fish from any site, including potentially contaminated (rad and hazardous waste) areas. Our lead larval fish taxonomist is Bob Wallus, editor and principal author of “Reproductive Biology and Early Life History of Fishes in the Ohio River Drainage”, a six volume taxonomic guide to larval fishes.

We will process your larval fish samples in our biological lab. There we will pick the sample to remove the larval fish from the debris, identify the larval fish to the appropriate taxonomic level and enumerate the larval fish. We will provide you this information in electronic and hard copy formats.

AMERICAN AQUATICS has a group of experienced biologists who have sampled and reported under the original 316 permitting requirements on our staff. We can assist you in developing your sampling program and we will work with your other consultants too. We have a relationship with a large engineering firm with extensive experience working with power plants. This allows us to provide you with a complete 316b permitting service.

Call us (865-483-0600) or e mail us to get more information about how we can support your 316b permitting efforts.
